Some decisions are easy. Others are painfully hard to make. When it’s not clear what to do; when—no matter what—the outcome is likely to be mixed, the heart and mind are in turmoil. We collect facts. We seek advice from friends, family and experts. We weigh the pros and cons and consider the consequences for ourselves and for those we love. We make up our mind, and then change it again, and again in the struggle to decide. We go this way and that in a search for better options.
This quilt is full of contrasts and conflict – the rectangular and the angular, old materials and new, and of course, dark and light. “Points” are made throughout. In contrast, the quilt stitching swirls are meant to evoke eddies of indecision. The Big Decision is about a mind and heart on the brink of a life-changing decision with no way to know the “right” path.
